Petrochemical projects in Assalouyeh anticipated to produce 2.25 million tons of domestic petrochemical production capacity

Two petrochemical projects have been inaugurated by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in South Pars, southern province of Buschehr. The two projects located in South Pars economic zone, according to IRIB, throughout this visit the second phase of the Pradis petrochemical complex has been launched in the presence of President Ahmadinejad.  

This petrochemical complex is the second largest global unit and the largest middle East unit for production of urea. The two projects are expected to turnover US$550 million when operating. A total of US$9 million dollars has been invested in the projects which are anticipated to add 2.25 million tons to the domestic petrochemical production capacity.

Construction of Pardis II, which cost US450 million, started in 2004, and construction of Morvarid project began in 2006, the annual capacity after the second phase has been launched is reported to be more than 1 million tons of urea, and 680,000 tons of ammonia. The urea general production capacity in Iran rises to more that 1.4 million tons per annum.
